Mealtimes are seen as a time for developing social skills, etiquette and learning about food. Staff eat with the children to ensure that mealtime is still a part of the learning environment and older children are encouraged to serve meals and drinks themselves. We firmly believe when children are given fresh food and vegetables daily this ensures a start to a healthy diet. With this in mind, we have taken advice of a nutritionist when planning our menus.
We have found that children will often explore foods at nursery that they may not at home. Therefore our menus are varied and contain dishes that you would not normally find on a children’s menu using ingredients that are organic, fresh, low in salt and sugar and restricted in colorants where ever possible.
Children have three meals during their nursery day, depending upon the time they arrive and leave.
