It’s a common misperception that early childhood education is only about learning basic skills. It is an important time for children to learn crucial social and emotional skills and a partnership is formed between the child, their parents and the teacher and/or carer. When successfully achieved, it lays the groundwork for success to continue throughout the child’s education.
UNESCO states the importance of early childhood education as being more than preparation for primary school. It aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs to help build a solid and broad foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
We know the teachers have an important role in the child’s advancement and should be someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a lasting impact on their lives. In other words, children should be happy with their teacher and/or career in early childhood education. Helping children to learn and grow is a big issue for the child, but this field also provides lots of opportunities for the teacher and/or carer not just in their knowledge but also in social emotional growth.
One of the biggest challenges nurseries face is finding the right balance between working one-on-one with children and managing the larger group as a whole. There is a balance to be reached between what a child’s specific interests and needs are and when you’ve have lots of other children who also need our attention. Twisty Tails Nurseries are proud of the work they have done in this area and enjoy working with children from all backgrounds.
Figuring out how to apply and implement nursery standards can also be an issue for new teachers and/or carers, so quality training is vital. In order to get the best outcomes in early childhood education, Twisty Tails Nurseries enjoy working with students natural curiosities. Yes, there are boxes we need to check, but a huge part of what we do with young children is looking at their interests and using those interests to help them progress.
Our friendly nurseries welcome and care for children aged between three months all the way to five years. Twisty Tails has a simple ethos; by monitoring the way in which children play we find out what interests them so activities can be incorporated into their schedules. We promote; individual personalities, courage and independence by helping children make their own choices through wonderful rich experiences reflected in learning and teaching methods.
